I think this must be one of those things that is really a YMMV (your mileage may vary) of the product. Almost the same number of 1-star and five star reviews. My personal experience is a mix between the two extremes. I have every kind of cut around my garden and surroundings (our district has used many pear trees, wood and weak branches that are damaged in storms in summer and snow / ice we did not much snow & ice , obtain Winter). It has everything I threw, but cutNote that I'm not super-heavy-duty done, and Those agree with, if you need a visa heavy say spend your money wisely and buy a Stihl or something. But for my purposes, which is only a couple of times a year, it was great.
Not perfect, because some have been disappointments. Chain tends to come off easily – and it took a bit 'to understand the correct position (so that does not bind or fall). But once I thought that (in and out of testcan have errors, although to be honest, makes the issue easy to customize, so that only so much you change the setting) was very solid, with minimal problems. Still need to be adjusted occasionally, but with practice is actually quite easy, even for a beginner like me.
Start can be a real pain in the ass, but that is something that is easier to find time (how and when the first throttle pull & go to 2.1, etc.). All in all I recommend this product is not -perfect, but it's worth it for me. But entering notes, there are some real disappointments may occur, so do not say you were not warned

According to Quick-adjustment works well. Just stop the saw, loosen the round button 1.5 turns, the register (under the voltage regulator bar), then tighten the voltage regulator bar.
Third back to work.
Fourth No need to carry around a toolbar key at work.
Fifth Motor seems strong enough, and the single-point locking device keeps the bar close to work satisfactorily.
Sixth bar length is long chainenough to take on all jobs typical tree.
I strongly recommend this saw. I spent most of the "consumer" model of choice in the market (literally bought and returned them) before finally I saw this quite satisfactory.
My only recommendation for inexperienced users, it is a face, hat / helmet / ear protection (all must be taken-in-one) and gloves to acquire all the time.

've Used saw this twice (for a total of about 4 hours) and could not be happier! I saw a good start for the orientation and size like a dream. Make sure you need such as gas mixture and 2-cycle oil and always use the proper chain of oil by weight and not go wrong. This was just another super sale on Amazon.

The Poulan 4018 is great saw in general. I bought mine for 0. The Poulan 4018 has a strong engine, starts easy, balanced fairly well, cuts great. The only drawback is in order for the saw to be reliable (and it will be) you need to keep up on the maintenance constantly. There needs to be bar-chain oil in the saw at all times. You will quickly stretch your chain and ruin your bar if you cut to long with no oil. Tap it off each time you re-fill the gas. Keep your chains sharp (if you see smoke when cutting your chain is dull or you are out of oil). Check the chain adjustment each time you refuel as well. Lubricate the pull-starter pully wheel when it starts to feel tight. Also it is best if you learn how to adjust a 2 cycle engine. (You will need a special driver to adjust the mixture screws) That way you can keep this saw running great for a long time.
All saws require maintenance but If you want a saw with less maintenance you will be spending more money then what you would spend on a Poulan 4018.

Having once enjoyed cutting wood in the backdrop of Maine and Wisconsin, I was a bit suspicious about what my new Poulan Pro could do. But after working the primer, chock, and adjusting the chain ever so slightly, my new tool worked like a charm. I used it again this morning to trim out a pine tree here in CA. I do wonder, however, if those parts will stay together, for when starting it, the chassis seems to shake more than I anticipated.
Keep in mind – it seems a far better machine than the one I bought 20 years ago for just about the same price!

I did a lot of checking before I bought this saw and learned that for the money this was a great value. I also choose using the Amazon Prime to get the saw within 2 days which it did get here as they said it would. One thing I would do different though is to have an item gifted wrapped because it was shipped in the box that the saw comes in. Had I not been home that day someone could have came to my jouse and walked away with a brand new saw.
So anyhow, I unpacked the saw and check to make sure there was no packing material in the saw. Checked the chain to make sure it had the right tention on it, gas it up and also put in some good chain bar lube. Then followed the starting instructions and then had it running by the 3rd pull.
One of the biggest plus’s about this chain saw is that through Poulan they give you a full 2 year warranty on this saw if used for residental use. And from what I read about a lot of reviews is that Poulan’s customer service is very good about making repairs or giving a replacement for defective chain saw’s.
