After using this for about seven years, my old version of this drill died only becuase I drilled through my wrought iron fence which meant constant use for several minutes at a time while I put about 50 lbs of weight on it in 100 degree F heat in the sun!! What I’m saying is this drill was not made for the conditions I put it in. I sill worked for a year, though it would smell burnt becuase I had cooked the insulation.
Don’t let the other reviewers who claim the battery will die in A few years ago, do not be fooled. As with any nickel-cadmium battery is the key to long life simply charge: full, then unplug the charger. Use the drill until the battery is empty or almost dead before recharging (do not use it for a short time, then put it back on the charger). If so, it will be almost unlimited. My battery was good as new after 7 years.

I have used this drill/driver for over a year now and I hope to get another one soon. It has PLENTY of power for what I do. I have built and assembled complete kitchens with this tool and never ran out of power with two batteries. Good speed control with the trigger, convenient direction reversal buttons, and a very adjustable clutch. 12V is plenty and gives this drill a nice balance between power and size/weight. Fits into most tight spots. Don’t know what I did before I bought this great powerhouse.

I was very pleased to see that it was in Japan from escpially companies like Milwaukee have made farming increasingly to China. Makita has a set of products "made in China as well. It looks well done. Bar is Much Smaller Than it in person, take the photos. If you have not cut anything yet Have, Would it snow in our region. I use them when the snow melts and the soil is dry. Cutting limbs loose on earth w / o Milwaukee recip Hachet both the above results saw the jump and vibrant. Makita Cordless cutting through the middle w / vibration and shocks and rather quickly. There is no doubt in my mind when I cut most of a tree, a recip w / a Skil"Ugly" Milwaukee or knife blade would be faster than the Makita saw. But to cut into smaller pieces as large w / control and little or no vibration this little Makita not be beat.
